Thank you to two Chesterfield County, Virginia, parents for sharing their due process experiences and associated documents.
You’ll find the due process hearing transcripts for the first four days of the hearing below. In the coming weeks, the final four days of transcripts, as well as subpoenas, motions, and other documents will be added, providing readers an example of how due process hearings play out record by record.
Spring 2022, the parents filed for due process against Chesterfield County Public Schools (CCPS), Virginia.
The hearing took place March 21–5 and 28–30, 2022, with Sarah S. Freeman as the hearing officer.
The parents were represented by Todd Ratner and Sarah Ratner of Ratner Law, PLC, and CCPS was represented by Patrick T. Andriano and Larana J. Owens of Sands Anderson, P.C.
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) titled this hearing as case number 22-84. As of May, 24, 2022, VDOE has yet to post the Freeman’s final decision to its site.
